Yes, Altoona today...Pittsburgh tonight...tomorrow, the World!

In Altoona, Pennsylvania, today for the last of three days of CareerLink training. CareerLink is something like a one-stop service for state aid -- to the unemployed, to job seekers, to veterans, to the poor. Thirteen CareerLink supervisors are here for the training. We are at the Alleghany Mountains Convention Center in Altoona, Pennsylvania. That's is Diane Spokus, on of the instructors, in the photograph at the left.

Training continues until noon, when I will return to State College, pick up some materials from my office, and, then, travel in Rose Baker's auto to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. We will stay at the Wyndham Garden Hotel at University Place. Then, tomorrow, we make our presentation at the Patient-Focused Care Symposium at Magee-Womens Hospital of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Dinner for all symposium presenters hosted at the Duquesne Club, designated the country's number 1 city club in 1997, 2000, 2003, and 2006 by the Club Leaders Forum.

Back to State College tomorrow night very late.Coffee, hot and dark

Teaching in Altoona...

Off to Altoona, Pennsylvania, on Tuesday, wednesday, and Thursday of this week. The Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry has contracted with Penn State to oversee the development of a training and credentialing process for the Pennsylvania CareerLink system. The goal of the project is to:

  • improve customer service to job seekers, employers, and the community;
  • enhance the quality of career development and employer services; and
  • achieve greater organizational integration so that PA CareerLink services are aligned and seamless.
The PA CareerLink Training and Credentialing Program, in which I will be teaching, is designed to offer professional development courses to its employees so that they will be able to more fully support the Job Ready PA initiatives.

Happy Father's Day...

When drinking water, think of its source.
Perhaps time at the park to watch the water flow over the Falls. Maybe to lunch. Probably bowling. Surely a powdered donut. Cut the grass. Sit with the relatives in the evening. Quiet. Small warm smile aside to me. Patience...patience...quiet patience. Watch. Wait. Don't intrude. Help. Ask for nothing. All is sorted out. Say less than you are thinking. Hope.
