Rose Baker, my collaborator on many projects, speeches, and publications, today completed successfully a final oral examination for the PhD degree at Penn State.
I was not on her doctoral examining committee. Rather, I acted as cheerleader and back-up driver for her daughter's dance lesson.
She was a 2004 Wick Chapbook Winner. The blurb on the website:
Maureen Passmore is the winner of the 2004 Wick Chapbook Competition for her collection, Stranger Truths. She earned an M.F.A. from Bowling Green State University, where she received the Distinguished Master's Thesis Award. Her poems have appeared in Sycamore Review and have won the Mississippi Review Poetry Prize. She currently lives in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
